By Heather M. Smith
I was SOOOO excited to have this bag...it was the ONLY choice you had if you wanted something that looked at all feminine or cool. Plus, since I'm a full-time professional photographer, I needed something sassy and classy looking. well, at least I WANTED something fun looking! I bought the gray back with the flower because where I bought mine they didn't have a lot of choices in colors left. No worries, I get lots of compliments on the bag because it's still very feminine. Also, since my beast is the Toshiba Qosmio x505-862 with an 18.4 inch wide-screen...I was happy to find ANYTHING that would work. However, I also needed something that would hold "the beast" and my school books for the semester. Well...here's where my experience goes down hill. The bag, though it has a lot of handy pockets...they're very DEEP pockets which means you're fishing for everything to try to find what youre looking for. there are several internal pockets located on the inner front part of the bag...handy for pens, pencils, cell phone, iPod etc, etc and those are sewn in a very convenient location. But, anything else you place in there will sink to the deep avast bottom of the bag. Same with the inner portion next to the laptop. Which, fine, I put my huge-mongous battery pack in the bottom and I should be good to go...right?? well, not so much. Once the Laptop, the battery pack, pens, pencils phone extra mouse (I don't work well on the track-pad when I'm trying to edit my photography images I need a mouse or a tablet and I don't own a tablet yet), bottle of screen cleaner & cloth (you need this since this beast is a finger-print magnet). various other items like 2 small protein bars, small bag of beef jerky....all of this REALLY doesn't take up any space at all. Then I placed my 2 notebooks for Spanish class, my media writing book, my AP Stylebook...there was not an INCH of space to include my Spanish text book...unless I wanted to leave something sticking out of the top of my bag. UGH!! Plus, I occasionally will need to bring 1-2 other books to school. Soooooo..what the heck do I do now? I don't want to have to carry an additional bag to compensate for what won't fit in my $85 dollar backpack! I am a photographer and I also always carry my camera and a bag of gear. So. there really just isn't any way for me to carry more bags to compensate for the lack of well thought out space/expansion capabilities which is a serious drag. I don't want to part with this bag...but, at this point, it's relegated to being a laptop only bag. So, when I go to Starbucks to do my homework, I bring my laptop bag AND my honking full school bag...oh yeah, and my camera is always with me too. I'm studying photojournalism after-all.
So, this bag will probably go on ebay or craigslist as soon as the less-than-pretty laptop shoulder bag I ordered comes in. It's ugly, but practical for when I want to haul my laptop out into the world. In the meantime, for school, I'll continue to slip my netbook into my school bag.takes up no space at all and still room to add several more books.
So, please note, I'm not ripping on this bag at all! I actually love it! I do, i do! It's just not practical to think you can use this bag with the laptop and a days worth of schoolbooks at the same time in the same bag.
I would still highly recommend this bag to anyone and just warn them that it won't fit everything if you need it for FT school.
Oh additional note, it does fit the Qosmio 18.4 screen BEAUTIFULLY!! It's a smidge tight near the top. But, just give the sides of the bag a pull up and the zippers float around with ease! also super awesome that it's double protected by the sleeve the slips back over top of bag and then secures with two snap clips. I never felt like my laptop was in danger of too much movement. It's quite secured internally with it's own pocket seperate from the inner part of the bag and a nice long bungee velcro strap to secure it in nicely. Also, when wearing the pack, it does get hot, but it NEVER feels heavy. It wears like a hiking pack...up high with good weight distribution. It's actually, VERY comfortable to wear...except the getting hot on your back sweaty stuff. You back my be sweaty, but you won't be lurching around in pain or contorted. it sits on your back like a dream!

I was having a hard time finding a case for my 17" laptop that looked nice and also had some other storage areas. This fit the bill perfectly! I really like the design, and there is a LOT of room inside to store my other devices - wireless mouse, usb drives, small notebook and pens, etc. The quality is excellent as well. Highly recommend.
